Low Score Episode 12 "Metro Center"

Bobby was a big dummy and managed to record the podcast not using his USB mic but rather the little mic on the iPhone headphones! He some how managed to pull it out and salvage the damn thing, but if the sound is a little funky, you know how to blame.

This week we talked Mirror's Edge demo, Penny Arcade Adventures 2, and plenty of Fallout 3.

We also got a question this week about the role of story in games.

We're also speaking in really short sentences.

Next stop... Metro Center.

And the original music is back!

Low Score Episode 11 "Goodbye Money"

Wow. What a holiday release season. J and Bobby buckle down and go through the big releases, discussing the ones they're excited about and figuring out a strategy for when to buy which games. It's intense, maybe a little funny, and perhaps a little uninformed!

Afterward, your Low Score hosts tackle a topic from the Gamers forum from the University of Virginia: what does 'complexity' in games mean? A difficult question, for sure, but one worth pursuing.

So fire up your iPod, your Winamp, or your hi-fi system... it's time to achieve that Low Score!

Low Score Episode 10 "Ringing In Your Ears"

We're back on point with the news. Nintendo had a thing, Tokyo had a thing, so we did a thing.

Then there's Mega Man 9, of course. And Secret of Mana.

And then we get to talking about compilation discs, revivals/remakes, and downloads on handhelds.

Oh, and there's a little something extra at the end.

N'joy.

Low Score Episode 09 "Questionable Content"

"Mailbag day! Mailbag day! Hey everybody, it's mailbag day!" J and Bobby put out a request for questions and they sure came pouring in. Topics range from the Fall lineup of games, console lifespans, gaming setups, cookies, distractions, space combat sims, Project Runway, and a little bit about the lives of the hosts.

Sit a spell, won't you? And turn your ears toward episode 9.

Low Score Episode 08 "Is it Meaty?"

Both Rock Band and Viva Pinata got "platform upgrades" this week and J tell the world about them. Bobby discusses Mega Man 2, and the question of which platform to buy Mega Man 9 is raised. Mix in a little Spore now that Bobby's played it, first impressions on the GTA Chinatown Wars screens, World of Warcraft's new game within the game, and a discussion of how their gaming attitudes have changed in the year 2008.

You might just find this cast to be meaty.

Low Score Episode 07 "Charming"

Oh man, oh man! We've packed this one tight! We kick it off with some Spore, get it rolling with downloadable games on XBLA and the Virtual Console like Super Mario RPG, Mega Man 9, and Castle Crashers. Bobby then explains why he's an idiot (Bangai-O Spirits) and complains about the DS hardware.

We're proud to introduce a new segment titled "Seriously, Nintendo." We'll let the reasons why be a surprise.

Oh, and we talk about the Orange Box on the PC and 360 and if Bobby should upgrade his PC.

Low Score Episode 06 "Make it Work"

Not even the start of classes can stop Bobby from beating a game and buying three others. And now that he's finished with Mass Effect he and J can finally discuss it! Meanwhile J has an interesting cerebral response to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare being that it's the first FPS he's played where he's really out to kill real looking humans in war. Is this an untapped area of game design and story?

But be not discouraged, for Bobby wants to go to war with everybody in Civilization Revolution and blast off to space where he can kill alien dudes in Galaga Legions.

J's come back around on Bionic Commando: Rearmed and explains why not liking the game probably means you're doing it wrong.

What other adventures await our heroes? No idea! But you should listen anyway.
