Low Score Episode 18 "Back in the Game"

Now that Bobby's free from the clutches of his thesis, he's finally able to play games again! Bobby talks about Henry Hatsworth, GTA Chinatown Wars, and Chrono Cross, while J explains his XBLA plays and purchases.

There's an insightful two minutes of commentary about the PlayStation 2 price drop, Nintendo's game announcements at GDC, and the new OnLive service.

J poses the question "what do we want to see in an RPG in this modern day?" and we ruminate on what makes our favorite RPGs enjoyable.

It's a "meaty" show that you won't want to miss!

I agree with J's repeated phrase: most J-rpgs and Final Fantasy stories "don't make a lick of sense."

Whoa, you guys like Chrono Cross? Insane.

I enjoyed your Zelda talk! I agree with everything you said about Wind Waker, Bobby, right down to liking the boat but not being able to explain why in any convincing way. I liked Twilight Princess but felt deja vu the whole way through. Majora's Mask, on the other hand, is really unique. I sort of view it as a twisted side story to accompany Ocarina and is definitely one of my favorite Zelda experiences!

Totally with ya on OnLive. I was pumping my fist until I saw they want it out this fall.

Maybe I'll write something about RPGs to yas later...

I'd love to hear your thoughts on RPGs Erik! It's a genre I seem to fall in and out of love with. I'm definitely on a kick right now, firing up Cross again, FFVI, and the surprisingly good Jade Empire.
